I am a student in Aimee's 8 week beginning pole dancing class series at The Bombshell Ballroom Studio. I searched extensively for a place that offered a 1 pole per student ratio.
My commute to class is 90 minutes and well worth it!
Aimee starts the class with some stretching, and "pole warm up" movements. Next, building from the skills learned in previous classes we sequentially learn the correct body mechanics of these progressive movements.
There is good rapport, and carefree joy amongst the classmates, and I truly enjoy the organized way that Aimee teaches the class. We surprise ourselves with how confident we become with the beginning moves!
I highly recommend this class for anyone who is serious about pole dancing, not just talking about it.

I found The Bombshell Ballroom while looking online for pole dancing
classes in the Portland/Vancouver area. I was immediately impressed
with the professional website and its very inspiring/empowering tone.
When I first arrived, I was even more impressed. The studio is beautiful and inspires you to start dancing as soon as you step in the door. Aimee/Starr (the owner/instructor) is experienced in dance and fitness and has been pole dancing herself for many years. She made my friends and I feel right at home. I have been taking classes here since January 2008 and I will not be leaving.
My dance background includes many years (21+) in classical ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern, and ethnic dance. The atmosphere at The Bombshell Ballroom is amazing and I consider The Bombshell Ballroom's
pole dancing classes as some of the most fun and rewarding dance experiences I have had. I highly recommend this studio to anyone considering pole dancing. Through Aimee's help you will discover your strength and artistic abilities in this beautiful dance technique.

I have been a student at the Bombshell Ballroom for a few months now and I feel the need to share my experiences with other women interested in finding a pole studio. I needed to lose some weight after having my babies. From the first class, I felt comfortable in the environment Starr presents. After the third class, I began to look at myself very differently in the mirror. Before, I saw stretch marks an cellulite, now I see my sexy curves as a blessing to have. I continued on to the more advanced class and ended up losing 24 pounds to date. My arms have definition I haven't seen since high school. Starr's knowledge of the body and dance make the class very helpful. Starr has over 8 years of pole dancing experience and it definitely shows! My marriage and sex life is saved thanks to Starr and the Bombshell Ballroom!

The Bombshell Ballroom is not just a place to
learn to pole dance. It is a meeting ground for
women of integrity, heart and humor.
Aimee/StarrGrrrl from day one opened my heart
and mind through training my body in a way I
never experienced. She cares about her
students as if they were part of her family.
I remember feeling nervous to go to my first
class until I met Aimee and saw the
incredible space she has created. After
sharing laughter and enjoying learning my
first "spins" I felt at home. I also enjoy
meeting and learning from the other
instructors. Karma for instance is a joy to
learn from and an inspiration!
I never feel like there is a "vibe" of
competition in class (unlike most other
fitness and physical art form classes I have
been to). There isn't the "Catty" ugly stuff
that often happens when women work or play
together. This is a place where no matter you
r age, size, race, sexual preference, level
of experience etc. you can be who you are
and be celebrated as a woman! This
environment inspires women to support each
other and I see that every time I enter the
Ballroom! Collaboration instead of
competition is something I have experienced
at the Ballroom. I can't express in words
alone how this studio and Aimee have changed
my life by inviting me to stretch what I
thought were my physical limits while helping
me feel more confident and at home in my own
body.
As a side note, having studied 14 years of
classical ballet and worked as a professional
modern dancer, I found that through learning
from Starr, I discovered ways of moving and
expressing my body (while building on my
strengths/weak points) my world of movement
was rocked in all the right ways. As a result
, my personal exploration of my ability to
move consciously and creatively has expanded
10 fold. I am so delighted to continue
learning more for health, heart and art!

I have been dancing at The Bombshell
Ballroom for over a year. I had
never done this type of dance before.
I have danced the tango, hula,
salsa, belly & flamenco. Nothing is like
pole dancing at The Bombshell Ballroom.
Starr brought me from nothing to climbing up
the pole backwards, and, I am well over 40
years of age. The studio is beautiful, the
training comprehensive, methodical, &
considerate of all abilities. Starr cultivates her students,
turning them into confident dancers. What I find most
impressive is the attitude. Attitude is everything.
There is a sisterhood among the ladies, filled
with enthusiasm & encouragement. Lastly, I would like to
say that Starr is thoughtful, considerate, articulate &
professional. She is a business woman, a teacher,
a dancer & a friend. You go, girl.

There’s one reason I traveled 3,000 miles across the United States to study pole dance and her name is Starr.
My story starts in New York, and like many aspiring pole students inspired by YouTube, I went looking for a studio. I quickly learned that while instructors can teach you the basics, it takes a performer – a pole artist – to teach dance. And
pole artists are few and far between!! So, I went back to YouTube,
e-mailed Starr bought a plane ticket, and traveled to from the Big
Apple to Vancouver, WA.
Starr’s Bombshell Ballroom (which is gorgeous!) turned out to be a turning point in my dance. Starr assessed my skills, developed a set of goals for me and transformed me from trickster to a dancer. Her methods instantly helped me gain confidence. We added spins, inverts, transitions and floor moves. She was able to breakdown the moves and allow me to see the nuances that other instructors don’t share. I was encouraged and applauded for even the smallest of victories, also a unique experience!

I initially came to the Bombshell Ballroom for an Intro class as a friend ‘along for the ride’. I did not think that pole dancing would be a good workout for me. As a former NCAA division one athlete with absolutely NO dance experience, I was sure that I would not be able to keep up with the dance aspect and that the physical workout would be lacking. Boy… was I wrong.
From the moment I walked in the door, the atmosphere was inviting and the attitude was fantastic. Aimee is more than capable of teaching a class that caters to varying strengths and dance abilities simultaneously. I had a blast learning the graceful spins and twirls and Aimee’s positive energy motivated me to begin dancing regularly. I have been learning at the Bombshell for about five months now.
There are no put downs here; only sage advice concerning safety and an inspiring atmosphere for learning basics and then embellishing with personal flair. I have found that my strength is tested constantly and I feel much stronger (and look it, too) than before I started this discipline. Anyone can come to a class, learn at their own pace and rock the dance moves. I have been through many a workout and I don’t need dance experience to know that this is one of the best workouts available for strength, flexibility and fun!

When I decided to enter the Miss Nude Oregon competition for 2007, I wanted to increase my flexibility, pole tricks and overall confidence as a performer. I began taking private lessons with Aimee and not only did I get everything I asked for, I also won the competition! The studio is beautiful and Aimee is able to work with students at all levels of ability. I recommend that anyone (regardless of age or ability-level) wanting to get in better shape, gain self-confidence, increase their pole dancing skills or begin to learn pole dancing to go to the Bombshell Ballroom because undoubtedly you will have an amazing experience with Aimee!

Finding a studio for yourself is important because it needs to be a perfect fit. I moved to the area in January, and had been dancing elsewhere before that. I would like to consider myself to be relatively advanced, and needed a studio that could accommodate my level. The bombshell ballroom was the studio I inevitably chose because not only does Starr teach each class with the same dedication and energy as the last, but her knowledge of the art is incredibly extensive. Starr is fun, but more importantly, her classes are safe! Plenty of time is spent stretching and warming up the muscles before students attempt pole moves, and at the end of class, a cool-down is also included. The studio is beautiful and has poles for each person in class (11) so you never have to share. If spinning pole is what you want to learn, Starr is the resident expert in the area. All in all, The Bombshell Ballroom is the place to check out first!!!
